Hugh Morgan lived in Chapelhall all his life and ran the barbers shop in Lauchope Street up until he was 85 years of age. He was a fantastic man, everyone in Chapelhall knew him and still today people refer to us as 'Hughies'family.
He was married to my Gran Moira (Reilly) from 1951 and my mum Monica was born the following year. I was his only grandchild.
He was very heathy right up until he passed away, surviving a brain haemorrage at 67 is quite an achievement, and his philosphy was "it never happened" and he lived his life to the full travelling to Italy every summer with us.
He won "Chapelhall Citizen of the Year" an award which he accepted very graciously and I think he was humbled by the addoration that all his friends and neighbours showed him on that night.
He was a devout Catholic and spent time most days up at St Aloysious where he helped out with reading and anything else that was asked of him.
There will never be anyone who can replicate the wonderful things that he done for me and so many other people in his life.
My Papa was someone I could rely on for anything and the day he died my life was shattered.

Every day and every night
when you feel the need to hold me tight.
Just blow a kiss into the sky
for i will be that close by.
In the heavens throughout the day
i watch over you and hear you pray.
I see you smile and shed a tear
for you know that I'm still near.
I am the angel of your eye
I am your angel in the sky
